What Is "The Circle"?

The Circle is an idea from an author that I respect greatly and enjoy reading. But the idea of the Circle is also an ideal, an ideal in which Christians are called to live lives of substance, lives set apart, lives that are drastically different from the lives that many of us (myself included) sometimes live. The Circle is from one of Ted Dekkers novels, a trilogy series to be precise, in which the entire history of creation to revelation is unfolded in parable like style. It's an amazing series and not to sound like I'm advertising for the guy but it is definitelly worth reading (the first book is a book by the title of Black). Ok back to what the Circle is...basically as events unfold in the book Christianity is born only in his story instead of calling themselves Christians they call themselves "The Circle". They serve God, they present the good news of Jesus death (though in this story Jesus is represented by a character named Justin) and they are willing to die for that good news. They truly care about others and learn to not judge one based on their lifestyle and unwillingness to change...basically if you look at the church in the book of Acts, that is what the Circle is...it's an ideal that I wish I could attain, I wish we all could attain and I believe that it should at least be our goal as Christians to strive to be what the first church or "The Circle" was...it's time to step out and answer God's call.

Matt, I've read many of your blog entries and I think they are great. I like what your doing and your ambitions to tell the world about Jesus and the truth of life. Good work on your pictures. Keep it up. You never know, maybe you'll be in advertising because it's where God wants you. You could save the world. Never give up. And remember, Endurance begins when it starts to hurt the most.
